I believe that everyone has the right to full sexual citizenship: the ability to express their sexuality fully without judgement or discrimination. As a clinician with a practice focused on sex therapy, my mission is to foster a safe, accepting environment where individuals and couples from all backgrounds, including kink/poly/LGBTQIA+/PWD/BSDM communities, can explore and enrich their sexual identity and experiences. With inclusivity, sex positivity, diversity, and empowerment at the heart of my practice, I am committed to guiding my clients towards fulfilling and expressive sexual lives. I strive to dismantle barriers to sexual enjoyment and to celebrate the diverse spectrum of sexual expression with unfaltering acceptance and support.
We all deserve to feel empowered in our sexuality and sexual practice, no matter our age, gender, physical limitations or sexual preference.

Welcome to my therapeutic space, dedicated to fostering sex positivity and inclusivity for individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds. I offer a range of services including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, addiction recovery support, and mind-body/somatic interventions, all within a sex-positive framework aimed at empowering clients to reclaim their sexual health, balance, and confidence.

CBT is utilized to address unhelpful thought patterns related to sexuality, while mindfulness and body awareness techniques promote a more attuned and enjoyable sexual experience. For couples, I integrate elements of the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to enhance understanding and communication, vital for a fulfilling sexual relationship. These approaches are tailored with sensitivity to the complexities of sexual identity and expression, ensuring a respectful and affirming therapeutic journey.

Dr. Alix Agar

Dr. Alix Agar is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified sex therapist based in California, specializing in sexual health and wellness. Her passion for sex therapy emerged during her studies at California State University, Northridge, where she earned her MS, and continued through her doctorate in Clinical Sexology at the Modern Sex Therapy Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In her private practice in Los Angeles, Dr. Agar assists couples and individuals facing various sexual challenges, helping them overcome barriers to satisfaction and achieve their full sexual potential. She also serves as a consultant and coach for Pinktoyz, an online retailer of sex toys and accessories.

Dr. Agar’s therapeutic approach centers on the belief that everyone deserves to experience full sexual satisfaction, embracing sexual expression, health, and well-being, regardless of age, gender, physical limitations, or sexual orientation.
